Part 3 of our visit to @livecheshire4006
We popped next door to meet The Bren Project – an incredible charity offering supported work placements for people with learning disabilities and autism.
Their Bren Bikes workshop refurbishes and repairs bikes, helping people build skills, confidence and community along the way. 🚲💪
It was so inspiring to see both charities working side-by-side, creating real opportunities and making a difference together. 🙌

emphasis on helping people who wouldn’t normally find work or be in a working environment like this and introducing them to a a functioning working environment basically. And it just happens to be a bike shop which you know has worked out really well because it’s been really successful in the local community because we’ve supplied obviously you know economic sort of uh repairs and stuff like that supported by people who donate bikes to us. Um, and then we obviously renovate them. They, some of them need lots of work. Some of them don’t need that much work to be honest. They’ve just outgrown and the kids have or something like that or they’ve moved on to a new bike and they they leave them with us and support the charity that way. Um, and another major part of our uh success is our wonderful volunteers who come in every day of the week to to to help out basically. So we have uh young people and adults uh who come in and learn all about the world of work in the workshop and the guys Rich, Ian and Carol today will look after we do 8week blocks in Brentes here and then we offer a follow-up placement out in the real world of work uh after that. So we try and align it to people’s sort of job and career goals and aspirations and then we offer a further 8week placement out in the community. So wonderful. That is awesome. There’s that real dynamic of bolstering and building on skills that people might try in life that then is transferable into here and and anything that goes on here is is is life skills and experiences which are transferable to the side.
