I dismissed this the first day I saw it at the thrift store thinking it was too far gone even for only $60. I went back the next day for a closer look and saw that it would be within my capabilities to get it back on the road.
Shimano 600 rear derailleur, Shimano Deore front, TA Specialties cranks, SAKAE bars. 5 gears on the cassette and 3 on the chain ring.
It needs new cables and brakes for now and it is missing the downtube shifters.
My question is what kind of shifters should I get for it? Functionality first, appropriate to the age/maker of the bike would be nice too.
What does “for half step gearing” on the front derailleur mean?
Anyone know who made this bike? There are no badges anywhere although there is a serial number on the bottom of the frame.
