


I just purchased a used domane al5 gen 4 and was checking the fastener tightness and tool sizes needed for what to carry while riding.
The owner was using the bike on a kickr snap and showed me how he set it up, which appears to have been by riding on the axle end caps (if that’s what these are).
I have never seen caps like this on a thru axle before. What I believe to be the original axle is pictured uninstalled.
Is the installed setup meant for a trainer? Surely it is road worthy too?
Apologize if this is a dumb question, but this is so weird to me and doesn’t look like original parts.

Yes, thats meant for a trainer, and yes its road worthy. But if your not using it on a trainer, I’d swap back, as there will be 2 extra steps to change a flat on the road. Or just remove the 2 end pieces and store them. But it looks like you have the original axle….
