I posted this some time ago as a work in progress. It was donated to the co-op where I volunteer and it really intrigued me. All I could find of provenance is that it was manufactured in Belgium. Looks to be mid 70’s-80(?)
I’ve been working on it slowly over the last several weeks. First pic is after initial cleanup. The rest are finished product. I tore it apart completely (with the exception of the jockey wheels, which will just NOT come apart). Disassembled wheel hubs, BB & headset & repacked all. Replaced the rear wheel spoke guard with a much more interesting one sourced from a similar vintage bike. Seat is from a 50’s vintage Schwinn. Rear cassette is really generous for that vintage, so hoping it’ll compensate for the overall weight. Chain was the hardest part to source. I’m using a 5sp chain from the parts bin that’s about a link too short. All new cables & guides. I got creative with the handle bar setup. This configuration is a compromise between a fully upright beach cruiser posture and a typical crouched road posture. Seems like a good compromise. I’ve only ridden it about a block. Waiting for a warmer south central Pennsylvania afternoon to give her a good shakedown ride.
