Rescued this 1989 frame from a rather interesting character and suffice to say it must have been left outdoors in some capacity because tiny ants and mud got inside of it somehow… I used compressed air and am thinking of blasting every orifice out with lower pressurized soapy water from the self service car wash but otherwise any advice on how to move forward? Thanks!

  1. I am a fellow Karakoram owner, although mine is a few years younger than yours. I absolutely LOVE the paint on yours – I have no expertise to share on the best way to clean, but I hope you share some updates as the build comes together

After you’re done blastin, use something like fluid film or even just WD40 to protect the inside of the frame. Love the finish, like it was built for the concrete jungle.

Hey I have the same exact frame in roughly the same condition… haven’t built it up yet but I have some ideas

Do everything to protect that metal child. Blast out it’s insides, and coat them in preservative oils. AMEN!

  5. Seal up the drain holes with flex tape and fill the tubes with evaporust for a day to two. Shake it around, drain, rinse, blow dry, and then spray internally with frame saver or something similar.
