Hey all, quick compatibility question.
I’m starting from a SRAM Apex XPLR AXS 1×12 setup: 40T front + 11-44 cassette (HG freehub).
I’d like to go “allroad” and convert to 2x, while staying on HG, by adding:
- a front derailleur (AXS)
- a 2x crankset / chainrings
Main question: Can this work mechanically with an XPLR rear derailleur, assuming I’m careful with chain length and avoid extreme combos?
Also: could I run an HG Shimano 12-speed road cassette 11-36 instead of the 11-44 (for tighter steps), with the XPLR AXS rear derailleur?
Any real-world experiences (chain length, slack, shifting quality) appreciated.
