I have a gx eagle drivetrain that I have been having problems with, over the last few weeks my battery has been very hard to get connected to the derailer. I got back from a ride a few days ago and the battery now won’t charge or show any signs of life and I noticed these ‘black spots’ on the contact points. I am assuming I need a new battery?

Get some fine sandpaper and give the metal connections a light scrub. Battery and derailleur.
Pencil eraser or ISO alcohol might clean them enough to determine if that’s the issue or not. If those spots are on the surface and aren’t physical damage.
