Day one of cycling on a penny farthing from London to Paris. This adventure all started early morning boarding the train from Oxford to London. A backpack, me and a bike with a giant front wheel and limited gearing. Once I reached London, the real adventure began. Starting from Big Ben, the iconic beginning to a ridiculous challenge. Riding a peding through central London felt like time traveling through chaos. Taxis, buses, tourists, cyclists, everyone weaving through the city while I balanced on the towering antique with a grin and a bit of terror. And the reaction unbelievable. People were stopping conversations and shout encouragement. We even had a bus driver give us a thumbs up as well. Mile after mile, London slowly gave way to two quieter roads. The excitement settled into a rhythm with me struggling on the descent and making up my own descending style. By the time we reached the ferry terminal, my legs were aching, but spirits buzzing. I rolled the penny fariling on board like it belonged on the ferry. A few more laughs and then it was time for rest. Day one complete. Paris a bit closer. Still far away, but the journey well and truly underway. Come back for day two of this trip tomorrow.
