Do you remember when I posted photos from VeloDunajec a few weeks ago, from the section between Nowy Targ and Szczawnica? I promised a full story back then – and I have just finished it. I described almost 250 kilometers of what I truly believe is the most beautiful cycle route in Poland, built in a way that is ahead of many much more famous routes in Europe.

The route starts in Zakopane, right under the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland. Then it follows the Dunajec valley, one of the most scenic rivers in the country, and heads north through four different (not so high) mountain ranges. You can ride it all the way to Krakow in about 5-7 days, or treat it as a shorter part of a longer, relaxed cycling holiday and finish in Tarnow.

Malopolska is one of the most interesting, diverse and traditional regions of Poland, so there is a lot to see along the way. A bit of local culture, a bit of local food. Everything a cycle tourist really needs on the road. Here is the full story – enjoy 🙂
