Hi,
I desperately need some help with my breaks as I dont know what am I doing wrong.
I have my bike for around 6 months with Hope Tech 4 V4 and Hope floating rotors. Brakes came with the green brake pads preinstalled and about a month ago I started developing a horrible squeaking sound front and back. After some research around here, I have concluded that I glazed my pads and rotors and decided to do the following:
– replaced the pads with the red ones from the kit the brakes came with
– sanded with 80 grit paper the rotors on both sides (driving and non driving)
– realigned the calipers to be in the middle of the rotor. I have done this visually
– aligned the new pads to be in the middle of the rotor, following Hope's procedure to the best of my abilities
– bedded in the new pads with around 20 light braking sessions
As you can hear in the attached video, the squeaking is still there, not as bad as it was before with the green pads, but I think it is getting there. First brake is front, second brake is back. Sound is similar for both.
I dont know what I am doing wrong to be honest and I am out of ideas.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Idk what to tell you man. I’ve never seen a set of these brakes that doesn’t have this noise when it’s a little wet out
I have tech V4 on E-bike and use the pads designed for type of bike. They might be a sintered pad I can’t remember but might be worth sanding the face of your pads to get the glaze off and try them again. 80 grit is to coarse for the rotors 120 is enough to de-glaze and then clean with disc brake/clutch cleaner
They will make that noise for me when it’s wet out.
Looks wet out. That’s normal. Do your brakes still have full power? If so, then just deal with the noise.
That’s the unique hope brake squeal
It’s caused by resonance occurring between the pistons and pad. I have a set of hopes that are horrible with this noise and i live in the desert where rides are never wet. I put a tiny amount of silicone brake parts lubricant on the back of the pads and the noise disappears
Hope brakes always make this sound.
That’s the signature hope squeal.
I’ve got Tech 4 E4’s and they sound exactly the same, even when it’s dry.
Melamine sponge and with isopropyl alcohol to clean the rotors always fixes it for me
If you clean the rotors and put new pads in, the squeak might go away for a ride or two. It’ll come back after that though
It’s wet, they’re gonna squeak
Those are disc brakes. When they’re wet, they make noise.
Brakes squeak, not much you can do about it. At least they’re not making that loud howl that some brakes make🤣
