Hi All,

TLdr: When you bike to a venue, and are deciding what to lock your bike to, what's your favorite? What do you look for in a bike rack?

In another subreddit, I was asking about secure bike locking near a venue. Someone suggested this https://www.bikehub.com/articles/bikeep-bike-racks-pg1209.htm and I just don't see what advantage it has. Though I've never seen it in person, so I really don't know.

Back in the 90's, my university used this type of rack pictured. Their first version had horizontal bars, not bent down as shown. I think those were easily vandalized when not locked, so the company modified it to this curved down version. Here is a street view with both versions visible. https://maps.app.goo.gl/jr1FDGaGfHm7zWURA If you move the street view around on that traffic circle, you can see both versions, functional and vandalized, in front of the movie theater.

For me, this clamshell bike rack design is my absolute favorite. Sadly, nobody uses them anymore. If anyone can share a link about who made them back in the day, I'd appreciate it.

But enough about me and my preferences, what are yours? Please be kind.

Slightly different topic. I always point people to these links:
