Typically run my Teravail Washburns at 70 psi and drop it down a bit for gravel riding. Pretty often I don’t if I’m doing a quick gravel trail. Are these tires just waiting to blow up now? What can I do to prevent this from happening in the future?

Is that cut through the tread or the tread+casing?
~5mm of casing cut is where most manufacturers say a tire is beyond repair. I think close to 1cm is a more reasonable point where tire boots are no longer a safe solution.
Can’t speak to the gash, but 70psi is higher than a lot of people will run on 32c road tires by the way, those washburns at that width should probably be run closer to 40-45 depending on your weight etc
boot it if you’re worried. you can glue a piece of cardboard to the inside.
New tyres?! More like new bike
Ouch only there was an online tool to help people determine proper tire pressure
