Last week I posted about upgrades for my e-bike where I was spinning out the 11T – consensus was that a larger chainring was the only real option. So I bought a cheap 56T chainring on Amazon just to try it out. (original thread – https://www.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/1paj7l5/ebike_groupset_upgrade_options/ )
Question – Does this look ok? The original setup had a chain guard on the outboard side of the spider, and the chainring on the inner side. The new chainring will only work without the guard, mounted on the outboard side of the spider. The teeth are offset so they're basically right over the center of the spider. My chain line is now moved about 2mm outboard, and I've got nothing mounted to the inboard side of the spider. The bolts are torqued.
I don't need to get shorter spider bolts, right?
(I realize I will likely need a longer chain, but I'm going to test out this gearing before buying to see whether I settle on a 54T or 56T).

I’d say it looks good considering your concerns, it also wouldn’t hurt to post a pick of the chain line
