⚑ The Battle of Poitiers was fought on 19 September 1356 between a French army commanded by King John II and an Anglo-Gascon force under Edward, the Black Prince, during the Hundred Years’ War. It took place in western France, 5 miles (8 km) south of Poitiers, when approximately 14,000 to 16,000 French attacked a strong defensive position held by 6,000 Anglo-Gascons.

The Battle of Poitiers was the culmination of the Black Prince’s 1356 campaign in France.
The result would see a third of the country being handed over to English possesion, rendering the Black Prince’s expedition as the most succesful campaign in the Hundred Years War.

  1. DISCLAIMER:
The Battle of Poitiers is one of those battles which details are still discussed to this day, and vary depending on the sources. Therefore, I have decided to represent it not only according to my own judgement, but also according to what would make more engaging cinematics. And I have certainly taken some artistic liberties (namely the weather).

Thank you for watching, and consider subscribing if you enjoyed!

  2. One of the best if not the BEST historical total war cinematic battle. Keep it up! One day your channel will get its recognition it deserves. You should also consider do Antiquity Era with Divide et Impera mod in Total War Rome II

  3. You should look into some more Eastern Roman battles like Kleidion. I assume you're using 1212 AD so it might be a bit difficult to get the period specific troops.

  4. If you watch those β€œArrows vs Armor” videos, none of these people would have been hurt in the battle πŸ€” Their armor would have made them completely invulnerable to weapons. I had the chance to try on a real suit of plate armor and you’d be amazed how thin and light it is. It had to be otherwise these men wouldn’t have been able to move all day on the field. Modern repro armor is made heavy for sporting use and made from modern steel. Medieval armor weighs much much less than what soldiers carry today.
