Hey, mountain biking enthusiasts!

Exciting news! Red Bull Hardline, the ultimate test of skill and courage, is expanding to Australia on February 25, 2023. But don’t worry, the iconic Dyfi Valley, Wales, race is still happening on June 1st and 2nd.

This expansion is a game-changer, offering riders the chance to make the most of their journey with the upcoming Crankworx event in Australia just three weeks later. Red Bull Hardline is taking mountain biking to a new level.

Excellent news, as we’ve seen with Rampage judged free ride events are fraught with opinion, UCI WC DH is great but it’s a bit same same will feature a shrinking field of new riders with dubious rules and coverage, and while Crankworx is great the DH courses are pretty tame.

Hardline brings the best courses, the best riders from across the world and spectrum, and no doubt over who has won

  2. It’s what every Red Bull/Warner fan wanted. As well as people who are growing tired of UCI’s ‘west europe downhill series’.

They’ve added Poland, which is nice… But there is no US event now. Just MSA (Canada). So literally only one DH race outside of europe in general, and if you exclude Fort Bill it’s all just EU proper.

The world cups used to go all over the place, south africa japan australia etc. And some of these european stops are getting VERY bike parky… And then there’s this push back to make it more technical… But they end up just putting sketchy tech sections on an otherwise mega fast course. Which is kinda dangerous. Like, the tech sections at Hardline are natural, slow, and tight. They don’t really put super sketchy sections on a borderline fire road section.

It’s kinda weird to think about but, ya know, people get injured more often on world cups than Hardline. Maybe due to different expectations as well as frequency. And rider list. But still, it’s just designed well.

I’m hoping what they achieve with this is not just more stops but essentially rider-designed, rider-approved courses. As well as rider-centric schedules, that are more like Hardline and less like Crankworx/UCI. Having those rider meetings and making sure people are safe and having fun.
