The wife's rusty Schwinn "Walmart Special" ("Schwinn Admiral 700c Adult Hybrid Bike, 7 Speed, Unisex Bike, Cream") just bit the dust. Recently had it fully tuned up at a local Trek shop (third or fourth year of use) and the rear wheel ingested the derailleur going up hill the other day. Not blaming Trek but the timing doesn't look great for them (I'm not a bike expert by any stretch so I assume it's not their fault but what do I know). Obviously we're no bike snobs given that's what she was using — we only really putz around the neighborhood and certainly don't do anything long distance or fast (we cruise with the kiddos, that's about it, we have some big hills though and the Schwinn wasn't great for that although the wife managed).
Anyhow, I picked up a Windsor Rover 4.0 for $275 as a scratch and scuff over on BikeIsland (still en route). I couldn't find a single review of this particular model anywhere, only older models, but as a layman the specs all seem superior to the now-$300 Walmart Schwinn we had.
Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of this Rover 4.0? The wife occasionally pulls some of the kiddos on a bike trailer so the hydraulic brakes seemed like an upgrade, she'll probably keep the front suspension locked out so I don't imagine that feature will get much use, but the rest of the features seem good for the price? The upright seat position with flat bar is what she prefers in a bike, so that was a bonus. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this model. Appreciated!
