So 2 months ago a car ran a red light and t-boned me on my Scott Addict road bike. Broke my foot and wrote the bike off. The frame was cracked but the wheels were in great condition, and with the blessing of the LBS I decided I'd keep them and do something I always wanted to do, which is keep a separate pair of wheels for my also-pretty-nice-but-not-nearly-as-nice-as-my-Scott gravel bike that would be permanently shod in 40mm Pirelli slicks with a different closer ratio cassette so I could easily swap between gravel and road riding, especially useful now that my gravel bike is my only ride.
My instinct was that while this would work, it might be a bit of a faff, and the derailleur would require a tweak and the calipers a little adjustment each time I swapped the wheels. But, after the always enjoyable task of fitting, pumping up, and sealing tubeless tires, I tossed the rear wheel on my gravel bike to see how much screwing around I'd have to do when I changed wheels. And to my amazement, theyre perfect. Shifting is dead on, and brake discs track perfectly down the middle of the caliper with no rubbing. I literally stood up and pumped my fist in the air after I ran through the cassette..
Its a small win but a much needed one after 2 months of frustration.

Nice! In case you still do happen tof find it to be slightly off; you can get thin sheet metal spacers to space out the disk and cassette!
