Helped a buddy of mine with a bike this weekend.
He was looking for a Black Friday deal, but nothing that matched his $1,500 budget was any good. Apparently the good deals were already sold out.
However, for the same price on FB Marketplace, my wife found a one-year old Salsa Cassidy (165mm, size small). They originally wanted $1,800, but they accepted his $1,500 budget price.
The original owner bought it new last year for $4,800.
Tonight I gave it a tune-up and swapped out some worn parts with stuff I had in my parts bin.
We ended up trading forks too. It came with a 180mm Zeb Select. I had a brand new 170mm Yari still in the box he wanted instead. Though I need to get a different size front brake adapter tomorrow.
I think I will eventually Smashpot the Zeb and change out the damper. IDK yet.
By the time I was done with it tonight, I ended up installing brand new Michelin tires, SDG grips, a lower rise bar and shorter stem.
My buddy is 5'6" and the OG owner was 5'9".
It also has a new XT cassette and chain, too.
