Benelli is the better shotgun. The 870 is a steaming piece of garbage. If you have an 870 trade it in on a Mossberg like now. When the 870 extractor brakes. It has to be drilled out of the receiver and then rewelded with a new one. I'd rather have any Mossberg or any Benelli. And I say that as an owner of an 870 and I wondered when I bought mine why it was so cheap. Now I know. That's why I say it's a steaming chunk of garbage.
As someone who has used both a lot, I gotta go with the 870 so classic and just mean. The M4 is an awesome gun, however there are now semi autos that do better for less, Ex. Beretta 1301
The only advantage the pump has is being able to very quickly insert a specific shotgun round after every extraction. Other than that Benelli wins in all categories.
