What’s your biggest weather-related culture shock? 👀😂 For me, growing up in a tropical country 🇮🇩, I still remember my first winter in Germany in February 2019. Everyone was freezing as we entered the classroom and tried warming ourselves near the heater. So my mind cannot comprehend when the German professor entered and said there was “bad air” in the classroom and proceeded to open all the windows widely, in the name of “lüften” (aka ventilation) 😭🥶
Fast forward to 2023 December, my first winter in Korea. Girls would wear miniskirts (sometimes without warm stockings!) and people would walk around in slippers…without socks!! And drinking ICED americano!! In -10 degrees celsius weather!! 🥶
(But to be honest…after a few months…I’m starting to pick up these habits and adapt to the cold 🤭❄️)
I am a german and I go inside the classroom wearing a t-shirt because I löst my favorit sweater and the teacher would be like: schlechte luft hier lass uns mal lüften; and the worst part would be that I was next to the windows you and I would freeze to death
Corona was hell. We had to lüften every five minutes and the heaters of our school didn’t work. At some point a parent donated a portable heater And my mother bought me a heated seat cushion 👍🏻
