We’ve loved bike touring with our family, and would love to share the love with others.
In 2023 we toured from Marseilles up the Rhone River (Eurovelo 17) all the way to Andermatt, then we rode the Eurovelo 15 down the Rhine to Amsterdam. Our kids were ages 3,5,8,10,12, and 14.
What questions do you have about bike touring with kids?

Did you do it in summer vacation time or how did you do it with school?
Do some or all of the kids want to do another long bike trip? Where would you go next with them?
Incredible work, nicely done! When I hiked the PCT there were some families with toddlers and it was so impressive. Their hitchhiking abilities were unmatched.
Did everyone just cruise at the 3 year olds pace? Or did the young ones have some kind of assistance to keep up?
How many kilometers do you typically do per day, flat vs. climbing?
Man that sounds awesome but a logistical nightmare. How did you plan it all?
why did you have so many kids?
So, on having a puncture; who gets involved?
1. How did you convince all of them to do it?
2. Did you camp or sleep in hotel?
3. Do they fight a lot
This is pretty badass!!!!! You all are amazing!!!
Hi, I have a few questions, as I want to do more touring with my own child – she’s 8, but will be 9 next season. Special needs AuDHD kid, so we have some challenges. Learnt to ride unassisted last year, but can do about 25km on a single speed bike.
How far were your kids able to comfortably ride in a day, when riding consecutive days? Did you need to take many rest days?
Where did you camp? Were you able to find a campsite each night, or did you wild camp when the kids needed to stop for the day?
Did the younger kids need some way of being connected to an adult’s bike? My daughter has outgrown her trail-gator, and I’ve been thinking about getting a tow rope just to keep her attached to me in some way.
Did the younger kids carry some gear? Any advice for what worked for them and what didn’t?
Did you guys have any pain points that other parents attempting similar should know? Anything that could make the ride a bit smoother?
1850 miles with kids in tow is seriously impressive! Congratulations to you all for making it! I hope I can do the same some day!
