So, I was on the fence about this kind of lock to begin with, considering the price tag and the reality that no lock is gonna stop a determined thief, fancy lock or otherwise. But then black friday hit, and I found a deal for basically 60% off so I said screw it, I'll give it a try for my brand new custom built, hand painted bike that I've poured WAY too much time into. I'm in a "keep this bike protected because of the hours and sweat I've put in" mindset, not because of its $$ value. (but yes I'll also get insurance)

Having said all that, take a look at this photo… the gap where the shackle meets the crossbar seems… huge. I might be crazy but I think I can even see where the diamond coating ends and the normal steel begins? To me that defeats the entire purpose of this fancy lock.

Anyone here who's purchased this lock and had the same issue? I know Best Bike Lock had a similar issue, and was rectified after they sent him one not from a "bad batch" but with more and more feedback from buyers it seems like, similar to their scam "anti theft protection offer" that they've also cheaped out on the manufacturing of this lock and it is not a reliable product for anyone looking for actual protection vs just ignorantly buying it and saying "no its safe because the packaging told me it was!"

Would love some feedback but also gonna message Kryptonite directly and will update here with their response.

  1. One thing I would love to see tested on the angle grinder resistant locks is someone taking an angle grinder to the lock body instead of the shackle.
