I've ordered a new seat for my retro bike, the only problem is it doesn't fit…
I actually had the same problem with the last seat but didn't realise the problem looks to be the clamp size. I'm very new to bike maintenance so am unsure if the best solution is to buy a new single bolt clamp or a new seat post entirely. The old seat was pretty bad so ideally don't want to return to that.

  1. So the seat isn’t the problem. The problem is the top mounting bracket, the thinner piece that the bolt threads in to. So in order to use that seat or any seat you will need to replace that top bracket or the entire seat post. I would probably just buy a new seat post or see if your local bike store has a better bracket for the top. When buying seat posts make sure you confirm the right size, seat posts are measured in .1 of a millimeter.
