My experience with the area is it’s congested at peak times but at night and early morning it’s not too crazy. Theirs a pretty large Christmas village taking over city hall and the area for the next month so we will see it get tested further. That being said Philly drivers tend to drive like they always have to take a massive doo doo.

As a Dutchman: this is just silly. But at least it’s something.

I would kill for this in my city. I’m not sure what you’re complaining about

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I wonder if green paint makes it more slippery when wet?

Paint is not infrastructure, but it’s a start I suppose

American bike lanes are built by the staff of The Onion. Aren’t they? This must be a cruel satire.

Honestly, looks quite good to me. Sure, could be better, given the circumstances I think this is solid.

I think it looks beautiful, in my country they don’t respect bikes, maybe these high vis lanes would help. Nice!

What pisses me off the most about this common design for a bike lane, they forget that they should’ve either reorientate the entire road or add a road block.
I’m not really “just” blaming the city council for this because I’m certain that some members are aware of the flaw, it’s just that the contracting process is terribly complicated.

Not bad, I honestly think fully painting is at least an attempt to commit to making the lane useful. And to be honest, the way they handle the two left turn slip lanes is probably the best they could do without committing to a full redesign of the street
That said, the city could get a easy win by just moving those bollards over two feet. Hopefully Philly keeps going

When you want to build a bike lane just to be able to say that you have bike lanes in your city and want to spend as little as possible.

you can put green paint anywhere, but if you don’t feel safe pushing a stroller it’s not a good bike lane

Why does philadelphia hate trees and nature? I’ve been there twice now and its so dirty with concrete there’s barely any plants.

I mean…. What the hell. It starts okay but the part from 0:18 to 0:43 is so bad. Just paint and cars on both sides. I think I would feel safer practicing vehicular cycling on the side than using that part of the “bike path”.

Not great but I’ve seen far worse.

Still it’s an attempt. Hopefully it’ll improve.
