We stayed in Biarritz for three nights before setting off to the Pyrenees mountains.

[Music] [Music] [Music] Beeritz was our first destination on this road trip. It is located on the southwest coast of France. [Music] St. Charles Hotel was where we stayed for three nights. [Music] It’s about a 10-minute walk away from the beaches, bars, and restaurants. The hotel is very quaint, clean and nicely decorated. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. For the duration of our stay, we were left alone to come and go as we please. Our room was all that we needed for a short stay. [Music] Although a little too cozy at only 15 m square. However, this hotel won’t break the bank and it’s great for a short visit to Beeritz. A walk to the seafront didn’t take too long. [Music] Along the way, we passed the hotel depirits. This is where all the high rollers stay. Then we were on the path to the prominade. The whole area is very well presented. The Grand Plage is stunning, especially on a day like this. If you don’t fancy going on the beach, there are bars along the prominac. We had a spectacular breakfast here for €15. The beach stretches a long way, so you don’t have to worry about space. The constant waves make it Europe’s home of surfing. [Applause] The variety of waves makes it suitable for surfers of all abilities. There is a flag safety system for the sea. You can only enter the scene between the red and yellow flags. Lifeguards are on duty all day and will let you know if you might be in danger. The surfers keep well away from the flags. It’s fascinating to watch their skills. If you walk around the coastline, you’ll come to another smaller beach. [Music] There is an ornate bridge which merges into the rocks. You have to be careful because the beach gets cut off by the rising tide. There are picture postcard views at every turn. The charming fisherman’s port is in a small cove beneath the cliffs. Cafes and restaurants line the port, serving freshly caught seafood. The adventure continues through the tunnel. although there are paths around the coastline if you’d prefer Be careful because bikes and vehicles use the tunnel also. [Music] As you come out of the tunnel, the building on your left is the aquarium. There are some spectacular rock formations at the entrance to the Virgin Mary rock. [Music] Once again, there are some great photo opportunities here. The Virgin Mary stands tall, overlooking the Bay of Biscane. You can see the Virgin Mary in the distance from this delightful bay just further on. [Music] This beach is a bit more relaxed than the main beach. The sea is a lot calmer and it’s much easier to swim here. [Music] There’s a cool bar here on the left, but we’ll get to that in a bit. Just along from the beach is the magnificent villa Belza. This building is steeped in history and is an interesting read if you Google it. If you head left at the end of the Grand Beach, you will find the high street shops. [Music] Up the small hill on the pedestrian area, you will see the casino. Then you will come to the town center. [Music] There are various roads to explore from here. [Music] We carried on straight up the road ahead. We eventually came to some lovely gardens. This is a nice quiet area away from the hustle and bustle. After the gardens, we went back on ourselves and turned down another busy street. This street is lined with a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants. a bear watching the world go by. All of this walking was a bit much, so we stopped for a beer. Cheers. This road carries on down to the Port View Beach. We found this great beach bar alongside the Port View Beach. There is a very chilled atmosphere. You can grab a drink and sit on the rocks. [Music] or you can grab a table and have some tapas or other meals. [Music] The birds are very friendly and come searching for a snack. [Music] The Petty Cafe is also on the Port View Beach. We had a lovely evening meal here. Our little friends were back on the scrunch. We couldn’t resist feeding them. [Music] We found an Italian restaurant just out of the way. [Music] The restaurant was filled with locals, which is always a good sign. [Music] The food did not disappoint. It was delicious. [Music] These little fellas followed us up the road. [Music] After the Italian meal, we found another busy road lined with bars and restaurants. [Music] [Music] It was Friday evening and this appeared to be where all of the locals hung out. For the duration of our stay, we thought that the food and drink were reasonably priced. [Music] A very nice meal with a drink cost about €35 each. [Music] At the end of the evening, we would go back to the Grand Page for a drink by the sea. [Music] We were lucky enough to witness a spectacular sunset. That’s cool. [Music] [Music]
