Residents in Swansea can have their say on proposed new walking and cycling routes as part of a new city-wide consultation.

Swansea Council is reviewing its Active Travel Network Map (ATNM) and is calling on residents to take part in the latest public engagement exercise to help shape the future of walking, wheeling, and cycling – known as Active Travel, across the county.

The ATNM highlights walking, wheeling, and cycling routes that meet Welsh Government standards, as well as future routes planned for development and improvement.

Under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, all councils in Wales must regularly update their maps, and this is your chance to help shape the future of active travel in Swansea.

Andrew Stevens, Cabinet Member for Environment & Infrastructure Management, said: “The Active Travel Network Map is an important strategic document which is the blueprint for the development of walking and cycling routes in Swansea for the next few years.

“During the next few weeks, we will be encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and let us know their views on the proposals for new routes.

“We have been very successful in securing funding from the Welsh Government in recent years, which enables us to improve our existing network and increase the availability of safe off-road routes for everyone to use.

“This is now the opportunity for everyone to have their say and tell us where they want new routes developed.”

Residents have until 4 January 2026 to get involved and can take part here www.swansea.gov.uk/activetravelmapsurvey

Paper copies of the survey are also available in all Swansea libraries.
