Hey gang, wanted to share a (dream) build that's been in the works for a while now. My previous ride was a Standert Umlaufbahn and I learned some things from that bike. Namely, run wide(r) tubeless tires and brake hoods, and try out chain waxing. Comfort cannot be overstated. Parts list:
- Mash AC-4 Matte Raw Tint (54)
- Zipp Ergo 70 drop bars, silver Thomson stem to be installed (after bike fitting), SRAM S-500 brake levers, Jtek cable doubler, SRAM Force front brake
- Light Bicycle AR56 carbon rims, Conti GP5000 AS tubeless tires (32 mm), Mack low flange hubs
- Thomson seatpost, Selle Italia SP-01 Boost saddle
- Sugino 75 DD2 crankset (49t), Kappstein 17t cog, Time ATAC pedals, waxed Izumi chain
I ran a very similar setup on the Standert, but the 32 mm tubeless wheels (at lower psi) are really something else. No joke–such a difference. The waxed chain is crazy quiet and so smooth. I wasn't expecting that in all honesty. And running (two working) brake levers (hoods) is also amazing. Skidding (emergency stopping) on nice low-pressure tires was difficult for me, so running this brake lever setup (Jtek cable doubler) allows me to access the brakes more effectively in more scenarios. (vs only on the tops previously) Anyway, a lot of lessons learned not only from my last bike, but from all of you. Thanks and hope you enjoy the share. Oh, the matte raw tint finish is something else IRL… not even kidding.
