Just finished an incredible ride this past August from the North Sea near Amsterdam all the way down to Genoa, Italy. Feel free to ask any questions. Below is some background.

  • Routes: Mostly EuroVelo 15 & 5, with a few detours in the Alps to get an extra pass.
  • Countries: Netherlands → Germany → France → Switzerland → Italy.
  • Distance: A little over 1,000 miles (1,600 km).
  • Time: 18 days.
  • Sleep: 12 nights camping, 3 nights with Warm Showers hosts, 2 nights at friends places.
  • Food: Mix of cooking on my stove, and eating out
  • Group: Did the entire thing with one other friend of mine. Then had another friend join for 9 days. And a few other friends joined for a day or two.
  • How it started: I just put bike trips or adventure ideas into a group chat I have with my more adventurous friends. I'll say something like, "Hey, let's do this". Then that's the catalyst for making it happen!

The trip had everything from river paths, mountain passes, and coastlines. Every day brought new scenery and culture.

If anyone’s planning something similar, feel free to ask about the route, gear, planning, food, camping situation, daily mileage, or the highs and lows. Always happy to share tips!
