Alright… so I didn’t hit my goal today, but my goal was incredibly ambitious.

I spent 4 hours trying to bunny hop this box longways today until my phone died (3 times), my box got completely demolished until it wouldn’t stand up, my chain got really loose for some reason, and I just flat out got so tired that my attempts started getting worse rather than better.

I REFUSE TO GIVE UP.

I came home, fixed my box, drank some water, charged my phone, reviewed my clips, and I’m about to tighten my chain back up.

After reviewing my clips, and considering all the advice I’ve been given this far, I’d say I gotta get them handlebars to my thighs before I try leveling out and I gotta hop a bit sooner.

I also included a video at the end comparing today’s goal to yesterday’s.

Discussion: Do y’all ever have to call it quits for the day? Do you ever get to the point that you feel like you’re overworking yourself?

First off all, you are making great progress. The dedication really pays off! That box aint small no more!

To the topic of giving up…I am hard headed. Sometimes I get tunnel Vision till I land it, me or my bike breaks or I colapse because I am tired lol.

About your bhops, you are kinda jumping to soon.

Watch some slow mo bhops of pros (ty morrow or broc raiford got insane hops)
You need to preload alot more before leveling out.

Pull your bars all the way to your hips, almost being vertical on the bike in a straight line. While You got to find tgw sweet spot where to jump off the rear wheel.

Then level out meaning pulling your legs up all the way and pushing the bars forward to get both wheels as high as possible.
    After that land and party!

I would in your case really pay attention to timing and jumping of the rear. Your legs got the most power

Yes, do something else. It’s good for you.

u can research this: something like “training for failure“ . If you’re repeatedly “not succeeding” at anything, u are practicing failure, in a way.

key is: get Something in the routine where u can repeatedly succeed! Do some of each.

(don’t misinterpret me – there’s no ‘failure’ in BMX progression! it is All good.)

    😀👍 keep riding BMX.

  3. I semi feel we’re being hussled, secret broc raiford whos gonna be clearing standing cones and barricades week 2, 3 or 4 lol

Someone said yesterday you are going too fast, and I want to repeat that cos I agree.

On day 6 try spend it just hopping at a slower rolling pace and getting that tuck up with your legs. Once you’ve mastered hops you’d be able to clear that box at half the speed.

Enjoi yourself mate, nice to follow your progress!

  5. A great practice is to go up a step in the street. Like a stair step but as high as the box. To know ur jumping something hard make u deal with the fear. Get creative and pull up like u would Jump IRL. It would t happen one day to another , practice some 180 and others stuff too have fun with it

You’re getting better, but your hop still looks the same. The secret sauce is getting the front wheel higher. Focus on that. You can even practice just rolling along and pulling up until you’re almost vertical without even hopping just to get a feel for how upright you can be on the back wheel. Practice manuals too. Mix it up. As said before, practicing something the wrong way makes you better at doing it wrong.

  7. Someone, I can’t remember who or if it was yesterday or the day before, said I should just pull my handlebars all the way back until I’m forced to jump off the bike and land on my feet.

I think tomorrow I’m gonna start there. Once I get comfortable with that sweet spot, I’ll start compressing into the ground beforehand, and then pulling that front wheel up as high as I can, and then push the bars out, while simultaneously bending my knees and smacking dat ass with the back tire. I think that the biggest step I’m missing, after watching my footage over and over, and comparing to pros is that front wheel needs to come way higher, and I need to hop a little sooner.

Tomorrow I’m gonna practice a bit without the box before i pull out the box and record.
