I bought this frame from a metal recycler for 15$, and proceeded to put it together as my first geared bicycle on a budget.
As I’ve grown pretty fond of it I’ve gotten curious about what it is, mainly because it’s really not in the best condition and I’m afraid I may have to find a replacement eventually.
I’ve searched the internet very extensively, to the point of looking through trek catalogs during the years that they had this head tube logo. I’ve not been able to find anything about this frame or anything similar. It seems most treks from this time period were sold as a numbered model like the 520, 970 etc. the only markings on this one are shown in the photos.
It’s around a size 56 and measures square, the frame was intended for 700c wheels and clears at least 2.1’s.
Any information on this or suggestions for a similar replacement (from the same approximate time period and cost bracket) would be great. Thank you all for reading.
