I am trying to figure out why my brakes are not powerful. Alignment of the pads and the force that is required to be applied on the lever looks ok to me.
What do you guys think about these pads? I got this bike used. From specialized relatively cheap model.

I had a similar issue. I sanded them a bit and it definitely helped with the braking power. But did not solve the awful noise they make. I think the mechanic got oil on them or something. Going to sand a little further and if it doesn’t solve the Noise I’m getting some new ones.
If you contaminate the pads oil, brake fluid, grease, even cleaner) they are usually shot. Ive never been able to revive a set of pads even by sanding away a ton of material. If brake cleaner doesnt fix it (it sometimes does) then its time for new pads
