I have a Marin Fairfax 2 that I'd like to upgrade the crankset on. It's a secondary bike, so, apart from swapping the crank, I don't particularly want to spend a whole lof of money changing other parts if I can help it, especially as it's all in near-new condition and running nicely.
The Mircroshift Sword Black looks like a decent crankset option that will fit my current square-taper BB and preserve much the same gearing. The bike has an 8 speed cassette, but I'm pretty sure I could get away with this crank. https://www.microshift.com/models/fc-g7900-46/
The bike has an Altus M310 front derailleur. Can I use this derailleur with the Microshift crank? As I said, the bike has an 8 speed cassette—I think it's a Sunrace—and has an Acera derailleur. Are there any issues combining these various parts?
