Hello. I’m on a long pilgrimage trip and now in Vlore, Albania. I’m looking for a second hand bike that won’t be stolen when I stop at places. I’ve been to 2 bike shops. One had an old Shimano frame. Looked pretty old and rusty, but i had a test ride and was fine. He wants €75 for it. Anyone have advice. Is there anything that could be really dangerous i must look out for? I don’t want a wheel to fall off 😆 I imagine i should just replace the brake pads and maybe the tyres. I noticed one of the wheels said “made in china”. The stickers wrapping i thought was strange.

I would not pay more than $10 for that piece of garbage. Try looking on fb market place, or whatever the locals use for second hand shit.

I would stay away from that, to be honest.

A lock is the way to stop pilfering by people who just see an opportunity. “Opporunistic thieving” so to speak

Some things cost a lot up front, some cost A WHOLE LOT later on.

This bike and similar ones would cost you a lot of headache, lost time, possible injury and money later on (while being over priced for what it is)

If you are not financially able to do your trek, then it is better to figure out a different way or delay until you do have the money.
