Howdy, i was thinking of changing my chainring on my Colnago so I wonder how low can i go? I got 30th anniversary Colnago crankset with 52/42t, Chorus 2×10 speed. I am not sure can I change 42t to 36 or would that be an overkill? If so, 39t should be possible? Thanks in advance!

I think 42 is smallest available for that crankset. Campy did make a 41, but so rare nobody bothers talking about it.
That’s not Chorus, that’s Record. And you are totally devaluing that pantographed crankset by riding it and wearing it out. It was worth about $200-$250 but not anymore. That stuff was made more for show than riding.
Physically the limit for 144mm BCD is 41T.
