Back in July I was a half a mile away from my house, headed to work on my Specialized Diverge, as i have done regularly since 2018, when a distracted driver in a pickup truck turned left without looking at the opposing traffic lane. Sent me flying and made for a weird strava trip. Spent two weeks in the hospital with two broken legs and a broken hand, and then a subsequent eleven weeks unable to walk following surgery on my shattered right ankle. I am now finally recovered just enough to start getting back out there on a bike just a bit, so I replaced my 2018 Diverge (RIP, she pedaled across the rainbow bridge to live on a farm with other bikes after the accident) with a Cannondale Topstone. Plan to use this to commute, take on social rides and maybe bike back to DC from my hometown of Pittsburgh, which I did on that Diverge in 2021.

Gonna be a while until I have the strength to really handle hills around town again, probably not until spring, but I’m just stoked today.

  1. Congratulations!! On the bike, not the truck…just wanted to be clear.
Glad you’re still on the right side of the dirt.
Lose those wheel reflectors….they won’t stop a truck.

    Smart looking bike though. 🤙
