I just got the email I was not expecting at all! I just was notified that I got picked in the lottery for the Unbound 100 this year. I just started cycling last summer and have done about 4 gravel races so far. I honestly wasn’t expecting to get selected at all and just entered on the last day on a whim. I know it’s not the full 200 or 350 but I don’t think I am ready for that yet so I just put in for the 100. My longest race I’ve done so far is 70 miles so this would be my longest.

Anyone that has been there in the past have any tips, suggestions, advice for a newbie?

I live in Maryland so driving there is about 18 hours. It it worth getting a travel bag for my bike and flying there with the risk of something breaking or do I just suck it up and drive with my bike rack on my car? I’ve never been to Kansas or anywhere near there before.

Any insider info Is always appreciated. Thanks! 🙏

  1. Well done and good luck. I myself have just signed up to my first gravel (race?) for May next year.

Are you doing any particular training for it, or just trying to get decent hours out on your bike?

  2. I got in as well!!

Planning on taking the motor home and parking at the fairgrounds. Will be following this post for tips for newbies as well
