My 2yr old loves his Strider bike, and when he gets tired, I just stick him in the trailer, load up his bike in the cargo area, and keep riding! My favorite times are when he says, "Need go weally fast!" whenever he sees a hill coming. Might be the only acceptable form of backseat driving for me.

What are you using to connect it to the thru axle? I have the same trailer!
If you don’t mind, how old is your kid and does he seem comfortable in the Burley?
My son is 2; when I put him in the Burley with a bike helmet on, his head sticks way forward and he always falls in towards the middle of the seat. It looks terribly uncomfortable and he generally gets pretty unhappy in the trailer within 15-20 mins. I have stuff items in/around him to give some actual support to make it tenable for him.
Edit: saw you already mentioned your son is 2
