50 year old did first 50 mile ride!

This past weekend we completed our first 50 mile ride after only ever doing no more than 30 miles on a given ride. We did it on the NCR trail. It was absolutely beautiful. It was cold. It was very fantastic.

We didn’t take enough food. We didn’t take enough electrolytes we weren’t planning on going the full 50 we were only gonna go 30 or 40 miles but once we hit 20 we said well let’s hit 25 and then that automatically meant 50 to go back. I feel absolutely wrecked today but so glad I did it yesterday.

Yesterday I could not consider the idea of doing 50 miles again but today I’m ready to recover so I can do 50 miles again. It was such a fantastic experience. It had such a positive effect on my mind and my overall well-being. If anyone out there, just curious about doing a longer ride and or they’re just starting and they’re older I just started writing again back in May after not writing for the last 14 years and don’t waste your time thinking about whether you could or should just do it. It’s fantastic for you.

I have dropped a link to the route and it has pictures in. It had an absolute blast. He was also a great learning experience while I wish that I had had enough food enough electrolytes. It helped me understand more how to prepare in the future for not only a 50 mile ride, but if I want to do a longer trek , highly encouraged that you try it if it’s something that you’re thinking about.

Nice! I am late 40s and did 50 miles this summer and it was tough for me! Good job homie!

  2. Good job! Im a bit younger than you but had a major surgery that kept me from riding hard for a full year. I did my first half century post surgery last month.
