I was replacing the tyres today and the rear axle was very tight i took me considerable amount of force to untie it ( it was like that from the manufacturer) not sure if it was previously cracked or i just cracked it while removing it.

First question is it safe to ride until the replacement come?

And second what axle i need to replace, which of those numbers matter? I try googling it but could not find axle that match all of the numbers.

To add could that crack be the reason there was water all over the axle? And how tight the axle needs to be tightened ?

  2. Are you talking about that split in the washer? If not, circle the part that concerns you.

That’s not a crack, it’s an intentional gap so the washer can nestle nicely into the frame. You’ll probably also notice that the washer spins.

  3. That just looks like a standard thru axle with a preload washer. The washer is split so it flexes and self-centers when the axle is torqued.
