Been working on this route for months and finally happy with it. Starts in Nazaré (yeah, the big wave spot), punches inland through the Serra de Aire mountains, then back along the coast.

Stats that hurt:

  • 130km / 2200m elevation
  • Multiple 12-13% grade climbs
  • Mix of forest gravel, mountain ridges, coastal paths

Made a quick video of some sections: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TZlavw_0clI

The climb at km 45 is absolutely brutal but the views from the ridge are unreal. You can see the Atlantic on one side and mountains on the other.

Question for experienced gravel riders: What would you pack for something like this? I'm thinking it's a solid 7-8 hour day for most riders. Too much? Not enough suffering?

I only stopped to drink coffee and eat a Pastel de nata ))

if anyone's interested in joining (based in Portugal so figured why not). But mainly just stoked to have this route dialed in and wanted to share.

What do you all think? Rideable or am I insane?
