There seems to be a lot of confusion about the Billy Bonkers tyres relative to their popularity in xbiking. The percieved differentiation between the versions, apart from size and colour, seems to be the bead being kevlar (folding) or wired. The most important differences, as far as performance is concerned, does not seem to be widely understood.
SBC K-guard versions: the cheap version made from SBC – Schwalbe basic compound and with less dense carcass. It is cheap and hard-wearing. Has a higher rolling resistance. The tread will last relatively longer, but with poorer adhesion. Heavier. Unfortunately, the fattest 57-559 tanwall version of Billy Bonkers only comes in this version. Buy these SBC versions only if you need the tyre to be as inexpensive as possible and don't care too much about the performance.
ADDIX Performance versions: the more expensive version, relatively lighter, made with another compound, denser carcass. Not as durable as SBC, but still plenty durable, lower rolling resistance and far better adhesion. The ADDIX versions are the one you want to buy, if you at all care about the tyre's performance.
Many other Schwalbe tyres come in both ADDIX and SBC versions and it is crucial to know what you are buying, as the difference is massive and they are basically entirely different tyres with the same tread.
