okay here we go the time is down is tick down Angelica Almo the first off and we will bring you the splits as we have them Angelica Elmo the first out there she’ll have no one to chase but she is off and all by herself sickening out is Yuko Takahashi’s ten seconds later you can see the clock here as they watch the pair of them out on course now Takahashi had a great semi-final yesterday disappointing before that he goes caddies are furious and much bigger gear choice off the blocks of Cadiz chosen which is interesting new caretaker has she’s spinning a lot more probably preparing a legs is nothing harder than a prologue like there’s three and a half K of sheer flat-out high watts go for it attitude yeah nowhere to hide in this one Rachel clamor out as well she’s been dealing with costochondritis during the week which is some pain in under her ribs but she seems to be pretty good there is Sophie Cantwell who was very very strong yesterday as well and following her out is ilaria Zayn whom we kept thinking was gonna get dropped off the back of the pack of five years today but really hung in and and shown her quality in this format as well she’s got the T to balance issue will she put those little spinachy– bars on the front the ITU bars that they use and it’s probably a good choice she didn’t do that yesterday he’s Cassander bo grant who doesn’t look to be attacking this as much as the others in front did she on Taylor’s body too it’s a great spot for Taylor to be with the pink jersey just in front of you ten seconds back that’s your ten-second person to try and chase it gives you that marker and you can try and work that in as you can see right there she can see Cassandra the whole way all right great shot there of Taylor Spivey who goes along the the flat before they make the turn and head up the hill but already down the back end of the hill is Angelica Almo and it looks like that gap is already coming back a little bit its attacker Hoshi who’s taken she’s definitely within ten seconds there as they come across the bottom side is beautiful course here in Malta that’s the downhill and then the sharp turn onto the waterfront and Katie’s affair is just off the back of Yuko but you go so strong in the climb and technically very good we saw that the semi-final yes they were saw that year last year she technically very very good on this bike she needs to work a little bit more out of these corners she doesn’t have the same power but she’ll be able to use Mount Malta to her advantage and make all of her advantage climbing that climb all right Takahashi through transition for the first time sitting there as I’m out Katie should come into picture third if she doesn’t that’s great for Yuka you guys running very very well very well she’s she’s got Angie in her sights and she may pass her on this first climb which is a perfect place to be you want to get through the congestion it’s very very tight even though they’re individually time trialing it’s very very tight this section gets narrow up towards the finish line on your right-hand side they’ll make a left handle which is we call it the step of pinches again where the short chute will be on the run and then they’ll make this long descent and you go really using this climb to advantage and I think she’ll have angioma by the top of this climb she’s going to pass it before it which is very very good riding she needs to get around her now since she doesn’t get caught up in the congestion of a turn which he has done effectively and she’s in a great spot she’s riding really well I think she’s actually put some time into Katie’s affairs so tack actually strong yesterday stronger today there is the short chute you can see their 3a frames down and that’s the shortcut that both Cassandra both granted Katie’s a serious will get on the run when we get to it a little bit later on but at the moment you go Takahashi is already puts a 12 seconds into Angelica Olmo so she is in great form to start this one the scylla fair goes back to Katie’s Zafira so very strong early riding from the Japanese national champion Takahashi who wears the grey jersey by virtue of her excellent transitions and there is your reigning champion Katie Severus taking the turn at the bottom for the second time this week hey do be very very strong you’ll come down to the scent pass through transition here and you have about 400 meters of flats you can get into a nice Aero position really use her power I think Yuko is a little stronger it’s just the power to rate up Mount Malta then Katie has and she needs to work this flat section to close that gap to Yuko time matters I think Angie’s gonna be in a bit of a positive position here because she’s able to now tag off Yuko who’s riding quicker than her into a rhythm and and stay away from the athletes further behind we don’t know how it going at the moment it’s difficult to tell from our timing as it is as to where the splits are at the moment we’ll try to bring them to you as soon as we can it’s Rachel clamour like Yuko Takahashi’s this course really suit so she this is the flat section where I think if at any point she’s gonna be a little bit weaker than that than a summer Rappaport’s the KDS affairs but she’s pushing a very very big gear here in a nice position and now as they come off this roundabout is the long climb where she could use that power to weight advantage to really make a move this is where she has to dig in on this section and the step I pass the finish line to keep that distance from the athletes behind very very nice riding by Rachel Kleber and she’s got Katie’s a pharisee I don’t know if she’s closed in on that gap there but it might just been a shock that the camera shot but she’s committed to the chase of Katie’s affairs without question she’s in the green jersey she’s the fastest cyclist from Jersey she loves this course with Katie in front of us and she can see her Native Client make the court I think no I think the times are about even any surprises as you see him at the moment Liv Takahashi obviously out of the blocks really really quick there Sophie Caldwell who you know very very well she looks to be you know in a good spot as well I think I was expecting so fair as to have caught Yuko but it seems like that pretty much even at the moment it looks like so six seconds down on Yuko and Katie who are currently needing it with Rachel four seconds off there but I think safes looking alright she’s hopefully in a position where she can see a rider ahead of her which will give her something to aim for like Cassandra has got ilaria – a Mahad for comfortabe casandra’s losing time to tell us Bobby doesn’t look comfortable on the bike at all she’s used to having riders around us she’s not me how to push out that power and Taylor Spivey he’s gonna pounce and she’d be really riding the positivity of that when you start the closing on the pink jersey it just brings her momentum up Taylor Spivey another athlete he would love this course because of that power-to-weight ratio up that bottom climb and she’s using it to her van so Takahashi is out in front but she’s being chased down by caddies a fear is only a second back in almost 18 seconds back so she’s lost plenty of time to both of those two and so furious has come out the best of all just behind them Caldwell clamor are both ahead of Evangelic Omo she’s right behind you go take a she already crossed the line there that was a fierce right behind it yeah so Angie almost what she’s lost 18 seconds of Ferris yeah and there is Rachel climb up and there you can see the splits Elmo is quite the way down 20 turn Carl well is going to finish ahead of a if I’m correct that’s a cross that that’s across the benchmark so she’s 22 seconds back so Katie’s apheresis 2 seconds behind Yuko takahashi and Rachel Clanton lost 5 seconds – Yuko takahashi so UK with the fastest time on the board right now and it’s going to be interesting to see now the pink jersey of cassandra Bogue ryan who needs to work this last section you can see the desperation there she’s pushing up there behind with Spivey behind her so she’s managed to hold that gap in the last well nearly a lap on Taylor Spivey Jane crosses the line by ground as well and here comes Bobby Atlas Bobby at nine seconds so she is in front of she’s just off Rachel clamour in front of Sophie Corp well alright we’re into semifinal – Beatrice Malati in heat 2 is already out summer Rappaport takes her place the only pareo will be next ahead of felicity gt-r I’m Megan Foley Bianca Surrey knee and Elena dental over so they just keep on coming and we’ll get the combined times she she needs a big ride here if she wasn’t as good on it on the on the bike yesterday she wasn’t strong on her run and strong as she has been so she needs a big ride here and chasing down summer wrap a poor who also needs a big ride I think summer may be a little bit more comfortable without a lot of athletes around as she she doesn’t like to sit in a group very well she’s very new to bite writing a big swim run in the background and I think she may like this a little bit more at the time trial so you can Takahashi has put down the fastest time as being Casa Rainey takes to the track and our last athlete Elena down all over will look to change her down a 609 for takahashi a 611 for Katy’s a fierce 614 – Rachel clamour 6:18 for Taylor Spivey 624 for Sophie Caldwell and Cassandra bye gran is 17 seconds back and 15 seconds back on Zafir us that’s that’s a big loss Angie almost when T 2 seconds back and ilaria Zane 26 seconds back and there are your gaps at the moment they’re all chasing Yuko Takahashi who right now would be the first in the water for the Sprint enduro coming up in about 15 minutes time I think it’s good [Music] the 15 seconds that they’ve lost on that time child yeah I mean as an athlete leave how important is it to have good athletes around you I mean if you’re just watching triathlon and you’re thinking what everyone’s just going all-out there’s a tactical going there with making sure that you can team up with people and it makes it you say if you’re swimming on the back of someone fast it can make it 25% easier so how much easier is it and how much do you think about that during a race I think as soon as you get into the second it starts to make it easier for the person behind so for the likes of that Katie and Rachel and Tina who are at nine seconds behind I think there’ll be also dive straight in the slipstream of the person I had and it wouldn’t surprise me if them for so I’ve came out similar in the swim just because of how much easier it makes it being on feet tell you what my watch is riding out of her skin here she’s had a fantastic first one and a half lap she’s been twice up the hill and she gapped summer Rapaport right there summer Rappaport who is what about well she has warned the but now she’s been in the runners jersey but she was very very strong on the bottom this course I was expecting a lot more from her on this course because it’s less technical but she is struggling with the client and struggling with his next descent and the young junior Malati has just capitalized on that felicity sheet and ryan on-screen duathlon world champion can key off some Rappaport try it closer who really had a lot in the tank after yesterday’s semi-final it was almost a bit of a victory lap for her he only has still 10 seconds back probably though and she has summer in her sights she needs to work this descent to try and close that gap because Felicity shitty Ryan as she probably lost a little bit of time they’ll be good to see the splits as they come over the mats on the bottom section you can see how deep she’s digging she had to dictate yesterday to to make it into the top five she squeezed in in 15 her semi final behind her is Megan Farley but there is the world junior champion champion could post the quickest time here it’s hard to contrast against Yuko Takahashi’s but she is riding peddling very very well using the climbs very well in that descent she’s technically very very good on the bike well and she also well she’s had more time with his course than any by virtue of blowing the jam race but she’s also had to put more kilometers in her legs than anybody else 19 years of age European Junior champ world junior champion yrs as we said in the morning yesterday and got the chance to race in the semi-final against the pros and took that chance and finished eighth overall so you can’t get much better than that and now she’s out there looking to post better than a 609 which is the current time for the leader Yuko Takahashi’s she goes around for another lap you can see a right hand she’s flicking through the gears she rides a bike extremely well she came up that bottom roundabout dropped two gears she clicked you so if you watch that the hand she clicks those two gears dropped it a little smaller now she’ll come off this turn this is the part the pincers they need to push that she’s out of the saddle trying to keep the momentum indicators that is the worst part of this course would you reach what you think is the top of the hill the finishing line in your turn and there’s another little kicker at the top see quick she goes really you want the difference as she goes around that corner she’s aggressive on the descent you know compared to the others there they’re not being as aggressive as young Malati on this on this course she tucks down expect to see a big time from her well some around pull this out let’s watch out some around what gets around the top of this hill she had trouble with the the top of the hill turn in majorca last year but it’s certainly a lot more sedate across the top than Malati was Janna from Perry oh and she has taken probably or 20 meters out of Rappaport on that one lap alone Leonie Perry out there coming down into the last lap they’ll come down past the transition again and up to the finish line so this is when you have to be all out and you see the difference in their way they’re attacking this bike ride she’s a lot smaller frame probably not putting out as much power but really all over a bite milking every second she can possibly get using this flat section where her size is a limiter but as she comes around the roundabout again you’ll see a change through the gears and absolutely accelerate up to finish his TT off keeping a momentum pedals through the corners after changing the gears head down and bump going for it riding very very well I’m looking forward to seeing this time because being upset it certainly would be millat seat coming up towards the finish and she looks like she’s giving it her all we’ll see if the timing says that that is indeed correct but Peters Malati has had quite the weekend here in Malta and she crests the mountain for the last time and she has really put down a markup Petrus Malati will get the time to you as soon as possible we only pareo has closed down the gap on summer rapport as they come up the hill for the last time so pareo will be in better position than Rappaport by the tune of about 8 seconds at the moment probably less by the time they get to the top same millat sea would also finish your head of Rappaport because that gap was significantly bigger than ten seconds and the gap back to felicity shitty Ryan also bigger than ten seconds she comes up the hill with Megan folding right behind her so Felicity shitty Ryan will find herself with a bit of a gap to work on they can follow a good effort from her and that leaves Bianca cerini and Elena Donal over to round out our women’s time trial the first part of the equalizer and as soon as Atlanta dental over crosses the line and we bring you the splits it’ll be ten minutes until they take part in a swim bike run swim bike run and those legs live they would be burning on the way down they’re good to get from the top to the bottom re-rack their bike and refocus how hard would that be the first heat in a they just got get down as soon as possible now I think and just with that question that was the advantage of of pushing it in the semi-final that’s what we talked about yesterday during the semi-finals is the selection of where you’d be in this morning’s TT and now those athletes heading down now and there’s Felicity she D Ryan pulling up so how much does every extra minute of recovery is important because they got to choose that spots for the bike individual time trial based on their finishing time from the semi finals yesterday and and they all tend to chose give me some more rest how I’m much how important is every minute that passes before you have to go again we’re not talking huge minutes here because there’s only about five or six minutes difference but when yet when you’re all out in a prologue TT like this year you’re dropping so much lactating to the legs the last thing you want to happen is for that lactate to pool so the advantage of having a little bit more time is the ability to get down probably flush the legs out a little bit of a little run all the others of riding and prepare for this swim all right you go Takahashi she went off second in the end and was wasn’t long before she caught Angelika Almo of Italy and we didn’t know it at the time but she would post the fastest time at least in the opening heat and she was very very good Yuko Takahashi’s after a great effort yesterday as well Katy’s a fierce wasn’t too far behind though at reigning champion posted a six eleven so two seconds back from Rachel clamour was five seconds back Taylor Spivey nine seconds back and Sophie Caldwell 15 seconds back but the talking point here I think is Cassandra bo grant losing time and can Katie’s a fierce and Yuko Takahashi’s get away from the field like they did yesterday work together Takahashi was working with beau grande then she could work with Severus this time around and I can already see in my mind’s eye a race controlled by Katie Severus we’re gonna head down right now to Joe who has Katie’s a fierce and we’ll find out exactly how tough that was well Katie it’s gonna be quite the race out there you are starting second two seconds behind Yuko you came second in the time trial how was that yeah it was super hard I was over geared a bit out of some corners and took some corners a little bit not as much as I her not like I would want to but I’m happy I’m really happy with that I so yeah it’s a good way to start the next part of it and you will of course be 15 seconds behind the series leader Cassandra boquerón what will that mean to you yeah I mean every second counts so it’s a good start to the race how will it affect your game plan once you get in the water oh well the game plans the same just go as hard as I can so obvious just nice to have a bit of an advantage to start with okay we will see you on the finish good luck you Thank You Katie Severus will be 15 seconds ahead of Cassandra by grant and Cassandra right there knows that she has a job to do and she’s going to need to employ all of her tactical Mouse and all of her quality in this opening swim to do that as she talks to her country woman Leone pareo about how it’s all shaken out but can Cassandra bow grant do the job here is the results overall so Takahashi will start two seconds head of the fierce five seconds ahead of clamour surviving nine seconds cold well 15 seconds bow grant 17 seconds Malati 19 seconds and a great effort from her these are all provisional times we’ll keep them we’ll let you know when they are confirmed but Angelica Romo in 8 we only parry all areas ain’t Megan Foley Felicity she be Ryan summer Rappaport had a tough day at the office she’ll start 35 seconds back from Elena Donnell over and Bianca sir a knee and don’t forget the 90 second rule is in effect so Bianca sir a knee will already have 42 well half the 90 seconds in the bag and she if she falls before the 35 seconds behind she will be eliminated but

fantastic watch!
So how does this work?
However much faster you are than others Is how much you would start ahead on the swim
Wow, losing 18 or 19 seconds in a 6-minute TT is massive, that's like 5%. And we're talking about the top half of the table, not the bottom three. Unheard of in elite cycling…
