Over the spookiest weekend of the year, a small crew from Philly and DC headed out for a ride on the [Jersey Devil Hunt bikepacking route](https://www.jerseydevilhunt.com) across the Pine Barrens of South Jersey! Incredible fall foliage and cool, sunny fall weather made for a fantastic trip.

As always, reaching the route by train is a breeze. Two Philly-based riders started in Trenton, taking the SEPTA commuter train to get there. Two more joined at the halfway point on Day 2, coming from Philly via the New Jersey Transit train, one having come up from DC on Amtrak! We all rode the southern half of the route together, enjoying the big views, fall foliage, and misty lakes before rolling into Atlantic City for lunch on the boardwalk, then a train home.

Trail conditions were great besides the usual occasional big puddle and deteriorating wooden bridge requiring a little walking.

If you’re anywhere in the urban mid-Atlantic or northeast US, this route is an amazing wilderness getaway in the heart of the region. Hope to see you out there!
