Why did the tire fail/ blowout? Tire shows minor dry rot other than the big hole in the tire. No impact happened. Friends bicycle I changed the tire on. Tire is 3 years old and original to walmart bike.

Looks like it was over inflated.
New bike
Rubber degraded and pressure from the inner tube caused it to burst at the point it was weakest. You can see further cracks to the right, one looks the fabric is coming through.
Tires are consumables.
That tire looks like it was designed in the late 80’s. Also, Walmart.
buy a tube and a tire from a bike shop and call it a day. no sense wondering wtf is going on here.
