Three quarters in my trip through the Balkans and Greece. We're going to Istanbul! Here's a small update!
My bike setup is performing, it had the most challenging day when we cycled east from Tirana into the Dajti mountains. Offroad tracks, steep and with mud. The only big fix it had during the trip was replacement of bottom bracket in Dubrovnik. I can highly recommend the "bike and adventure shop" there!
Near Kavala my bike reached its final form with the addition of a stand! I didnt think I could be so happy with a stand. I was a bit skeptical but even with the ortlieb panniers the (clamp-on) stand works!
I discovered that putting hands on the top of my jones type bar (from Cinelli) is really nice on the asphalt. Its a bit more aero. Also i can lean my front arms on the handlebar and fly my drone while biking! (Almost crashed today..)
Greece has been amazing to ride through through. The people, the nature, cars are chill, nice places to visit (Kavala, Thassos, Xanthi)
Wildcamping has been a great discovery as well, near villages and cities, when there are some old ruins its usually a good spot. This time of year it gets dark fast and you kinda have the place for yourself.
Last stretch, from Greece into Turkey along the coast to Tekirdag before Istanbul. We want to cycle into Istanbul, any tips are welcome.
