From Western Switzerland to Greece. First part of a series of 3.
For the Alps part, as we don’t have the gear to cross 2500+ passes in central Switzerland using gravel roads, we took paved road in majority. It was fall, so, not much cars on the roads though. We mostly follow national bike routes, so still 40% off-road and pasture roads.
Mostly gorgeous weather during these first 2 weeks, which was a blessing. Experience got much harder in Dolomites, with rain during several days and snow above 2000 meters.
Drivers : in Switzerland, it’s OK most of the time, except large campervans and Italians plates. Slovenian drivers were the most adorable people you can have on the road. And then, sorry for them, but Italy is the place where a substantial minority of drivers (20%) don’t let you any space, even on empty roads.
