AXS Rear Derailleur stuck in recovery mode!/ update loop

I can't get my rear derailleur to work or shift. It only lights up and flashes if I hold the axs button whilst inserting the battery. After which the app picks it up and says recover requires. I update it. And it still doesn't work and I'm doing it over it again
Must have done at least a dozen times, been hours on end of trying different things but can't get it to run. What on earth is going on? Can anyone salvage me here? You expect this from a knock off Chinese groupset, not from Sram. I have two di2 12 speed systems and one axs 12 speed system and it is always an issue with the axs system when there is an issue. When it works it's a dream. When it doesn't you have egg on your face for ditching the cables
