I have successfully replaced the stock 48/31 chainrings on my Shimano GRX RX820 2X drivetrain with Specialties T.A. 44/28 chainrings. I have seen a lot of posts about this but no one confirming that it works on the 12 speed GRX. The new chainrings state that they are only for GRX 10/11 speed, but they have performed flawlessly on my 12 speed. After adjusting the front derailleur, the shifting has been as good (or better) than the stock setup. The machining on the chainrings is very impressive and they seem very high quality.

Living in Colorado I was disappointed in the stock gearing and found myself wishing I had one more lower gear. Not only does this provide that, it shifted the whole range of gears down and I now find myself staying more in the middle of the rear cassette (11-36) and when climbing I don’t find myself staying in the lowest gear the whole time.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the upgrade and would recommend it to anyone who is not happy with the stock GRX gearing.

I purchased the chainrings from the Bikeinn website Europe and it cost $104 with shipping taxes and tariffs. Shipping took approximately 3 weeks.
