#YCFC 🔴🔵
But walking out onto the pitch tonight, both two teams, the challenge comes from Stunth United, unbeaten after their first 10 games. An impressive feat which has equaled the club record that goes right the way back to the 1930s. A record they are looking to overtake tonight. They’ve been one of the surprise outfits of the fifth tier so far and looking the real deal for tending for promotion. they would hope having impressively whooped Southen United 2-0il on Saturday. I’m Paul Walton. It’s a pleasure to be bringing you the National League via York Hospital Radio. And for all those watching under zone this evening, we are underneath the lights. And so York City kick us off shooting from right to left as we look at it from the top of the TV gantry. Obviously, CLA picks up the loose ball. Really good early control. Gives it to Newbie. Newbie on the left hand side here. Oh, he’s cutting into the box here. He’s on the edge of it. Just strokes it along. Banks. Might be tempted to shoot. One touch. Felix a goal. Oh, he tried to place it in to the goalkeeper’s right. Maybe expecting someone to get a touch on it. Goes wide. Give and go there with Banks. Has worked perfectly and allows Felix to come over halfway. Now newbie run from Sinclair if needed. Instead, it’s threaded through perfectly like the eye of a needle to kiting. Sinclair Sinclair gets it onto his right. Oh, there was some curl on that and there was some dip just over the crossbar. Yeah, York City in not a good chance to create it down the left hand side. Sinclair slightly over the bar there, but second time York City have come down the left hand side and be able to create something. Obviously their start to the season has been excellent because usually the teams that come up don’t get a sniff of being able to go up again. Yeah. No, definitely. It’s usually a one for teams coming up to then have to adapt and kind of refine their feet. But yes, Stun have done really really well. So after 10 games in still unbeaten and looking quite strong. Now we have to defend this. Yeah. Well, well, good good corner in there and well defended by York as the gumpop header goes just wide and York City have a goal kick. Yeah, need that spark to come from somewhere. We’ve had a few chance down the left hand side but nothing clear cut. We need something to come out of really nothing but Mark kicks from down here on the left hand side. He’s got Newbie to his left. He gives him it. Nie’s already caught inside on his right once and created something. He’s done it again here. Shoots. Well, well blocked. Does it come in the header? No. [Music] Feel like that’s a little bit hard there. Stomp up get the free kick from Walcott. Some really nice intricate passing player from York on that right hand side. Alex Hunt driving into the middle middle now. Great through ball to Sinclair. Oh, they can’t quite finish it one-on-one there. Sinclair just needs that goal, doesn’t he? to get him going. But uh yeah, I mean great work down the right hand side there initially. You got like four players tied to the right wing. Yeah. A hump with the ball. Great ball to Felix. He spreads it to Fen Wal. It looks like cross in Born to Sinclair inside the box. Newbie kiting. Oh, that’s a really really good block there by the Skonport defender. Oh, there was so much to like about that move, wasn’t there? Felix’s little deaf touch on the right, the great um exchange of passes really quick on the edge of the box. And I thought for a minute Kiting’s effort was going to cannon in off the defender. But here we go again. Declan How now. That’s a really good ball to Callum Roberts. Bangk Roberts into the box on his left foot. Good save Harrison Male. Good curling effort there by Roberts, but really good save by Male to push it really far wide. And now Felix on the right hand side looking to go forward. Yeah, did brilliant when called upon there to punch it out of danger Harris Mayo. It’s dangerous attack and Declan How proving that he’s not just about goals either. Two minute two minutes added on here and it’s stomped up with the ball whipped in from the right hand side but easily claimed by Harrison Mayo. Yeah, goes out wide Sinclair. He’s got Kit on the overlap. This is where York have found success in this first half down this left hand side. Sinclair to K. Sinclair just on the edge of the box. Cross it in. Oh, bit of a creative effort there from Molly Banks. And it’s caused the save out of the goalkeeper Rory Mahardi. Yeah, some acrobatics for Molly Banks. I suppose you know Maynard’s run so far. There’s been quite a few nil nils at Halime and have changed in the second half like the Tamworth game, but uh got to make sure it’s nil nil at Halime for that to happen. [Applause] A to the back post headed back in by Scott man and air shot. Wow, after an air shot and then Andrew Boyce. Andrew Boyce it looked like good finish from just inside the box after the first shot was swiped out and missed. He finished that really well into the bottom corner to go through the crowd and pass Harrison Male. Unfortunate there for York City. Yeah, once it bounced loose really I mean I thought well that’s got to deflect off someone in the box. It’s going to hit someone because it literally firing it through a packed penalty area. Credit to Stunthor you know Twi on this left hand side. Back inside to F. York City going to try and rescue something here. Get an equally late goal in this first half. So they are level but it’s not looking likely. Greff is going to have to add on a little bit more added time after that goal. That’s great ball through Alex Hunt on the edge of the box here. Takes a couple of touches. Oh, and fires go wide. I thought that was it, Morgan. I thought as soon as he got that onto his right peg and smashed it and that’s going to be the last action of the first half, but Alex Hunt edge of the box. He’s just waiting for that net to ripple. And it’s a shame because you know that’s been one of a few chances but I think the difference has been that took their chance. Also the most loyal of these thought players he’s the one that’s been here the longest for them scored a cracker against South End. Yeah. Eastston with his third of the season then actually signed him from Tadcaster Albian who was part of the York College eye to eye development coming forward on goal again here and there’s space over on this left hand side for Denton he tried to just place it but there was no real energy on that shot it’s easy for male Rooney just muscle Felix out of that one and Scoff are growing in confidence and growing into the game even more how a sight of goal there and male right along on the ground with a punch to roll that one out. And now York can counter. And you can hear the south stand, west and east stands behind the lads as Newbie picks up the ball from Sink there. Tries to cut through a couple of players there really. It was very ambitious from Alex Newbie. Not quite sure how that wasn’t given there against Alex Newbie. Seemed like a very obvious free kick to give in New York City’s favor, but not given. And the game is likely to become more stretched now. Ollie Banks. Who’s going to make the run for him? Felix goes outside. That gives him a chance to use that as a foil and cut inside. And now here is Felix tries to go outside and rolly crosses to the far post. Heads might go up. And in the end, I think that was Sinclair. for the game. It’s off target and you know we’ve had quite a few of these half chances Morgan but just feels like when a team comes here press doesn’t make things difficult. We just shrink and don’t stand up to the challenge. Was made a great run inside here. He’s tied it with his left. Wow. Doesn’t quite but it was some effort. It was a good one. Yeah, it was a really really good effort there. I thought that was curling into the top corner. It shouldn’t be coming from our right center back running to the edge of the box and cutting in on his left foot to curl one just past the top corner though. We then need so easy forth to defend there. We get to the edge of the box cuts back and by the time cross comes in it’s really easy to head clear [Applause] now into the York City box. Half dealt with shot and over. Gonna be very very glad there. Complaining to the referee that it took a touch. It also means Josh Stones will miss the Heartley Pool away game. He’s the first York player to get five bookings. So we’ll get a oneame bam. Scott Thor bouncing through the area through to Greg Ollie. The fresh legs on the right hand side. Other substitutes are close to him. Gray in support is trying to overlap. Greg Ollie still in possession. Oh, that’s a good ball. Pierce back to Ollie across the six. Temporarily back with Ollie. Cleared. Walk on the left hand side. Boengen gives it back inside to Hump. Sprays it across. Joe Gray squares off his man, goes inside, goes out, comes inside, beats his man. Got front. Oh, left footed shot goes from the edge of the box, but too easy for Rory Mahardi there to play and take straight down his throat. But it’s a bit better from York City. Palmer back to May. May’s not going to find his man there because it’s read by Starbucks, which means that Skunthor can try and press here. There’s options in the center. Starbucks almost in the minute. I thought that was going to make the net bulge on the far side. Drift wide of the far post merely for Harrison Male offg guard. York City nil. Skunthor United won. 11 minutes on the clock. The preseason favorites in danger of being beaten here by the team promoted from the National League North last season. Stones. What can he do here to the by line? Cuts it back. Oie plays it off Hunt. Well blocked. Yeah, that was certainly on target from Alex Hunt range. So Bellah brought on presumably for more def more defensive minded against the guy now then. Oh dear. His mail comes out as a judge to have brought down his man in the area. And to be fair, I think he did. He’ll get a yellow for that. But more importantly, from a Scunthought United point of view, they have got a penalty. Referee had no hesitation there. It was a quick flick past the goalkeeper. Male just in that split second brings him down. Harrison Male was never going to get the ball and only caught the player. It means that Ollie Ewing here has a chance to double Scorp United’s lead and he just slots it as calm as you like into the center of the goal. Celebrates in front of the 1500 for Skunthorp United who are proving once again this evening that they are the dark horses and they are in a serious challenge of promotion from this National League 2. Yeah, just not good enough for York at all. It felt like that was coming. We’ve offered nothing and one mistake counts on it and Yuing takes his penalty brilliantly versus Batty still going. Evans means that he because he’s pressed forward there might be a chance for York to break. It’s going to be difficult for Josh Stones. He’s on the left flank at the moment. The guy in space is Pierce. And is that going to find Pierce? Defender. Almost slipped there. And Pierce has it corner of the box. Tried to hit it in first time. almost Joe Gray all looking a little bit too little too late when the referee points for a goal kick. Center back partnership keeping those clean sheets. You can tell there’s a lot of experience there to be able to go away to South End and away to York City to the best Pierce going bring it down and Pierce has got one one back for Ollie Pierce as he finds it to the goalkeeper right and was lucky he found himself unmarked there from three yds out. I’ll take back everything I said about those two keeping back to back clean feets and doing very well. Ollie Pierce breaks that deadlock. Shouldn’t mean anything, but at least Pierce gets another one. Knocked out how he was left on Mark there, but heads it heads it home well and Rory Mahardi doesn’t get his debut clean. First headers away for turn up towards the center circle and it’s the run. It’s the legs of Cers Fleming. Cers Fleming looking to maybe make it three here. He’s up against Hunt. He takes it around himself as Fleming tries to slot it past the goalkeeper. Harris Lee doesn’t even dive and it’s 31 to the United. Wow, just the frustration just grows. Really good counterattack there. Cell Fleming to really well. Cuts inside man. Finishes it really well into the corner. But wow, just when York City was so close to getting a two-2 out of this to being hit 3-1 just hurt. That stings. Yeah, it really does. Seems like Andy Botler has put together a pretty strong squad here. He’s got the youth and pace of players like Cers Fingling. He’s got the experience of the back two. Gray knocks it into the sixyd box. Referee still finding time to play on until then. And Skunthorp United have caused two upsets in five days having been South End United 2-0il away at the weekend. They have triumphed here an unlikely three ground of the Minstermen at the LNR Community Stadium. Was tough going for York and Alfie Beaston broke the deadlock just on the stroke of Halime as York pushed forward. We were punished with a poor back pass from Gray on 83 minutes. Harrison Male was never going to get to it. Brought his man down and as a result Ollie Yuing tucked away the penalty to put Scunthor 2-0 up. It looked like that’s how it would stand, but surprisingly there were two late goals. First of all, Ollie Pierce getting one back for York. But then burying the game, Tyrell Sers Fleming, the substitute, getting second in as many games and meaning that Skunthorp United have emerged this season as promotion contenders.
