Looking to purchase my first road bike after testing out the endurance 400, been riding for a few months just on a mountain bike between 25KM and sometimes 40KM on weekends which kills me sometimes but after testing a proper road bike i'm dead set on purchasing one. To the actual question, is the extra $700 for a carbon frame worth it in the long run?

If you can afford it might as well. Though I’m far from a bike expert I just purchased my first road bike too, I got it in carbon, and it feels way nicer to ride than my aluminum hybrid. Though that could also be the difference between road and hybrids and not aluminum vs carbon. My thought process was if I’m going to be spending a lot of money on something I’m going to use a ton, might as well invest in the better version.
Test ride the Carbon version if able and see what you like best. Also consider what you can afford now, and what you can afford to replace should you get in an accident, the bike gets stolen, etc. looks like both are a 105 group set which should carry you as far as you want to go in the hobby. Personally, I prefer metal bikes.
Carbon frames and wheelsets are not worth the money unless YOU find value in it.
Buy the bike you love. If you have the $$$ to splurge, treat yourself to a nice carbon frame if you think you’ll ride it more.
My first road bike was a gorgeous aluminum specialized allez in red. I’m not a racer, not a weight weenie, and didnt like the colors of the carbon frames at the time.
However, I rode that red bike all the time bc I loved how it looked. That was almost 20 years ago.
A few years ago I sold it and got a celeste Bianchi Infinito. Never getting rid of this one lol
Something to consider: used carbon. Much cheaper – just get the right size for your body (recommend pre-fit using an app or a professional fitter)
